Few examples of those who showed love to the places of Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam:
1.) Abdullaah ibn Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu narrates that there was a gutter belonging to Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu that was on the road Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu used (to the Masjid).
Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu left his house one Friday after dressing (for the Jumu'ah salaah). Because Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu had two birds slaughtered, the blood of the birds were thrown into his gutter and when Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu passed by, the blood spilt on his clothing. Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu gave instructions that the gutter should be removed and then returned home where he removed the clothes and changed into something else. He then went back and led the salaah.
Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu then went up to Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu and said, “By Allaah! The gutter was on the place where Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam had it placed.”
Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu responded by saying, ‘I command you in the name of Allaah that even if you have to climb on my back, you should replace it in the place where Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam had it laid.”
Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu then did just that.
(Musnad Ahmad no. 1790, Mukhtaarah vol. 8 page 390)
Another narration states that Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu actually carried Abbaas RadhiAllaahu Anhu on his neck with his legs over his shoulders.
He then replaced the gutter where Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam had laid it. (Tabaqaatul-Kubraa vol. 4 page 14)
2.) Abdur Rahmaan ibn Razeen reports that Salamah ibn Akwa RadhiAllaahu Anhu said, “It is with these hands of mine that I pledged allegiance to Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam.”
Abdur Rahmaan says further that when they then kissed Salamah RadhiAllaahu Anhu's hands, he did not stop them.
(Al-Mu’jamul-Awsat of Tabaraani no. 657)
3.) Israaeel narrates that Uthmaan ibn Abdullaah RadhiAllaahu Anhu said, “My people sent me with a bowl of water to Umm - Salamah RadhiAllaahu Anhuma .”
Israaeel approximated three fingers (indicating the small size of the container in which there was some hair of Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam.)
Uthmaan added, “If any person suffered from evil eye or some other disease, he would send a vessel (containing water) to Umm Salamah RadhiAllaahu Anhuma. I looked into the container (that held the hair of Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam) and saw a few red hairs in it.”
(Bukhaari no. 5896)
This means that if any person was ill, he would send his utensil to Umm Salamah RadhiAllaahu Anhuma. She would place the blessed hairs of Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam in the utensil, move the hairs about, and then return the utensil.
The owner would then drink this water or take a bath with it, with the intention of gaining cure. He would gain the blessings of the blessed hair of Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam.
(Fathul-Baari vol. 10 page 353)
4.) Anas ibn Maalik RadhiAllaahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam came to the house of Umm Sulaim RadhiAllaahu Anhuma and slept in her bed while she was away from her house.
On the other day too, he slept in her bed. She came and it was said to her, “It is Allaah's Messenger who is having siesta in your house, lying in your bed.”
She came and found him sweating and his sweat falling on the leather cloth spread on her bed. She opened her scent-bag and began to fill the bottles with it.
Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam was startled and woke up and said, “Umm Sulaim, what are you doing?”
She said, “Allaah's Messenger, we seek blessings for our children through it.”
Thereupon he said, “You have done something right.”
(Muslim no.2331 (84))
Another narration states that Anas ibn Maalik RadhiAllaahu Anhu reported that Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam used to come to our house and there was perspiration upon his body. My mother brought a bottle and began to pour the perspiration in that.
When Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam got up, he asked, “Umm Sulaim, what is this that you are doing?"
Thereupon she said. “That is your perspiration which we mix in our perfume and it becomes the most fragrant perfume.”
(Muslim no.2331 (83))
Anas RadhiAllaahu Anhu narrates that Umm Sulaim RadhiAllaahu Anhuma used to put out a mat of leather for Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam and he would take a nap in her house. When Rasulullaah SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam fell asleep, she took some of his perspiration and hair and kept it in a bottle, then she put it in some sukk (perfume made of musk).
He (Thumaamah ibn Abdullaah ibn Anas) said, “When Anas ibn Maalik was passing away, he left instructions that some of the sukk should be put in his hunoot (perfumes used in preparation of dead for burial).”
(Bukhaari no. 6281).
5. Nabi SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam was in a red leather tent in Al Abtah. Bilaal RadhiAllaahu Anhu stepped out with Nabi SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam’s ablution water.
Some Sahaabah RadhiAllaahu Anhum managed to get (the left over water of Nabi SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallamand wiped it on themselves) and then sprinkled (whatever moistness remained on their hands on those who didn’t get the water.)
(Muslim no. 503 (249))
6. Anas ibn Sirin Rahimahullaah narrates we were with Abdullah ibn Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhum at ‘Arafah. After zawaal, I proceeded with him until he came to the Imam and performed with him Zuhr and Asr salaah.
He then engaged in ibaadah (wuquf) and my companion and I did the same until the Imam departed. We departed with him until we reached a pass then he dismounted his camel and we dismounted and we thought he wanted to perform Salah.
His servant that took hold of his conveyance, said that he does not intend to perform salaah but rather he remembered that when Nabi SallAllaahu Alayhi Wasallam reached this place he relieved himself, so he (Abdullah ibn Umar RadhiAllaahu Anhu) loves that he also relieves himself.
